Project Summary

The NCAA Basketball Practice Facility is the newest athletic facility at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS. This building has glass curtainwalls at the front and sides of the building that span 2 floors high. This provides an abundance of light into the entrance and lobby as well as giving the building a prominent look. The exterior curtain wall for this project was supplied by Oldcastle Building Envelope of Texas and custom fabricated specifically for this building. There are also custom fabricated canopies installed to extend across the entire front entrance with a custom rounded face for a smooth finished look. The exterior insulated solargray glass units were supplied by Wholesale Glass Distributors out of Memphis, TN. Upon entering the building, there is a massive all glass wall at the lobby area that spans 14’ high and is splayed the entire distance of the wall. It also grows in height for the length of the all glass wall. In the wall there are all glass doors with custom fitted hardware as well. This all glass wall gives the lobby an impressive openness and airiness to it. At the second floor, there is a glass handrail that allows you to look straight down to the main lobby. This also contributes to the openness of the main area in this project. The handrail curves and bends in locations to add character and a bit of flair. The all glass wall and doors were provided by Vitro out of Farmer’s Branch, Texas. This project was finished within the time limit and within budget.
